Scholarships for International Students

Students from many countries such as Brazil, Mexico, South Korea, China, India, Taiwan, Russia, Japan, USA, Europe, the South and Central America, Asia, Africa and Australia qualify for these scholarships, grants and educational funding.

Scholarships: Canada-Brazil - Looking to fund your studies in Canada? Both Brazil and Canada offer scholarships to help students pursue their education. Educational institutions in both countries may offer their own scholarships based on academic merit or other criteria. Some Brazilian states, such as Pernambuco, Maranhao and Paraiba, offer funding for selected K-12 students to study in public schools abroad.

Through inter-institutional partnerships, Canada's Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) offers short-term exchange scholarships of up to 6 months to Brazilian students for study and research at Canadian post-secondary institutions. To apply to the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Scholarship, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

You must be already accepted into or in year one or two of a full-time doctoral program, and expected to complete your doctoral studies in 2025 or later.

Your field of study is broadly related to the humanities or human sciences of direct relevance to the future of Canada; (please refer to the FAQ for more details and read up on past scholarship recipients)

Your doctoral work must relate to at least one of the Foundation's Four Themes: Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada and the World, People and their Natural Environment.

Be a Canadian citizen studying at a Canadian or foreign institution, or a non-Canadian (permanent resident of Canada or foreign national) enrolled in a doctoral program at a Canadian institution.

University of Toronto Campuses, faculties and colleges offer both admission and in-course scholarships to their outstanding students. Several colleges also offer residence scholarships.

Qualified U of Toronto students will be automatically considered for most of these scholarships. Others will require an application. Please refer to the individual college or faculty web site listed below for further information.
